We wanted to thank those of you who have backed the project, since our last update, for your support. Over the past 24 days we have been humbled and grateful for the support we have received from all our Backers as we look forward to the excitement of production. As this campaign comes to an end we are hopeful that we can get Stretch Goal 1 unlocked, and with the unveiling of Stretch Goal 2 over the course of the weekend!
DESIGN QUERIES
We have received a few questions on how designing between the scales affects architectural features like doors, and how they present and visually work with both 6 and 10mm figures. Granted the project started with the initial design work being done for 6mm, but once interest from Louis at Hawk Wargames and Jon at Talon Games developed, we looked at how to best modify the designs so they would work well with either scale thereby allowing us to still keep a single line. The game scale of systems such as “Polyversal”, “Dropzone Commander” and “CAV: Strike Operations” lend themselves to terrain that doesn’t have to be spot on scale to work on the tabletop. This allows us the opportunity to model these structures so they present the right look even though they are not scaled point for point. Working through these design modifications we tweaked the original doors and other architectural features to come up with models where both scales appear “in place” visually.
In the graphic below you can see the door height for the modified Optigami Tower is approximately 16mm which to a 6mm figure will present a bit grander then it will with a 10mm miniature, but neither miniature would bump their head walking through the threshold.
In this second image you can see “Dropzone Commander” 10mm PHR Walkers in the mix with 6mm miniatures from Plasma Blast and Dark Realm while all sitting in context with the building models. I would dare say that if you were unaware of the scaling differences you would be hard pressed to even say they didn’t all belong to the same scale family.
In the end we feel comfortable with the modifications we have made for the final models and we are quite excited about getting the new high res prints done and getting these in molds for production so they can get out on your tabletop where they belong. Thank you all again for your support!
